Project Details
The project, valued at £115m, will involve the construction of a new hospital containing 162 mental health beds, and will transport the 150-year-old hospital into the 21st century, providing a modern, fit for purpose environment for services and securing the future of high secure mental healthcare locally.
Located on the Broadmoor estate, the new buildings will allow staff to provide the latest mental healthcare treatments which up to now have proved difficult and costly due to the current Victorian layout. Designed to modern environmental standards, the new hospital will be much more energy efficient and cost efficient to run, allowing the trust to significantly reduce its impact on the environment and make savings which will be reinvested back into patient care.
Advanced Utilities were employed by Kier Construction to deliver both the service diversions required as part of the enabling works phase of the project and all external mechanical and electrical infrastructure required to serve the newly redeveloped hospital. Advanced Utilities worked on this project for a total of 8 years, committing to the challenges of the programme and supporting the client throughout. We supplied and installed new gas pipework, fire hydrant pipework, mains cold water pipework, insulated steel heating pipework, new HV including all terminations and connections to the existing network, new external lighting, CCTV, and all associated excavations including bases and chambers.
